This Sunday, Europe’s first AliExpress’ ( Chinese online commerce giant) first physical store was inaugurated at the Xanadú shopping center in southern Madrid .
The opening of the store has broken all the forecasts, unleashing a collective madness for being one of the first 500 people who accessed the premises and thus receive some of the gifts that the first lucky customers would receive according to their order of arrival at the store.
Days before, AliExpress began an aggressive advertising campaign to promote its first physical store in Spain and Europe, ensuring that up to 500 people would receive some of the awards announced, including Xiaomi A3 mobiles, electric scooters or drones.
The response was almost immediate, and from Friday, two days before the inauguration, numerous people began queuing at the Xanadú shopping center, spending up to two nights at the door of this popular shopping center located in the town of Arroyomolinos, to get to be one of the first lucky to enter the new AliExpress store.
With great media expectation, when the store has officially opened at 12:00 noon on Sunday morning, more than 3,000 people had already gathered at the door of the establishment. The first “client” was David, received with cheers and applause by the employees of the premises, and who has achieved his goal after almost 48 hours camping at the doors of the mall: a Xiaomi A3 mobile.
With a large area of 760 square meters, the AliExpress Plaza physical store does not have the immense catalogue that the brand has for sale online, but inside you can find a lot of “stands” with all kinds of products, from Smartphones, Tablets or drones, to electric scooters, smart vacuum cleaners, coffee makers or video games, in a style of establishment that can be remembered in many ways to the Apple Store.
