How to watch the live stream of the new Apple iPad and Mac

31 December, 2019Gadgets

Apple will hold an opening speech today at the Howard Gilman Opera House of the Brooklyn Academy of Music. The company is expected to present the new iPad Pro and Mac computers. The event starts at 10 AM in New York (7 AM in San Francisco, 2 PM in London, 3 PM in Paris), you can watch the event while the company broadcast live.

If you live in Europe and write the date on your calendar, make sure you have the correct time, since daylight saving time has not yet reached the US. New York is 4 hours from London, 5 hours from Paris, etc.

Apple is likely to reveal a new iPad Pro that will replace the 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro. It is rumoured that it will not look anything like your current iPad. The device could have rounded corners, thinner bezels and a face ID sensor.

As for the Mac, the MacBook Air could receive updates. This could be Apple’s new mid-range laptop that could have a retina display for the first time. There could also be a new Mac Mini after all these years without receiving an update.

Finally, Apple may tell us why the AirPower charging mat is not yet available. Apple could also update the AirPods.

If you have a recent Apple TV, you can download the Apple Events app from the App Store, which allows you to view today’s events and see past events again. Users with previous-generation Apple TV can simply turn on their devices and watch the event from the app on the home screen.

And if you don’t have an Apple TV, the company also allows you to watch the event live from the Apple Events section of its website. This video source now works on all major browsers: Safari, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge.

So to summarize, here is how you can see today’s Apple event:

  • On iOS: Safari.
  • On Mac: Safari, Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.
  • On Windows: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge.
  • An Apple TV with the Apple Events app in the App Store

YouTube could come to Nintendo Switch this month

YouTube could come to Nintendo Switch this month

31 December, 2019English, Entertainment, Gadgets

Nintendo Switch has been strengthening since its launch last year, with a lot of games released, but it still lacks many of the popular applications that you can find on other devices.

One of the missing applications is YouTube, but this could be solved in the very near future: some Switch users have seen that YouTube appears in the “Suggestions” section of the Nintendo website, available from November 8. It is not a direct confirmation, but it seems to be a fairly obvious suggestion.

We don’t have anything official about YouTube or Nintendo, but we do know that Netflix and YouTube features were previously included in a list of “The best Nintendo Switch purchases”. The list was subsequently modified to eliminate these two transmission services.

Will Netflix be next?

Even with the solid line of new games that appear continuously, it would make a lot of sense for Nintendo to add to the advantages of Netflix or YouTube, allowing users to relax and watch some videos to rest from their gaming sessions.

At the moment, Hulu is the only streaming service that can be obtained on Nintendo Switch, and is only available in the United States. Hopefully the arrival of YouTube on the Nintendo Swift (if it really appears) is the beginning of new services that appear on the portable console. The services of Spotify and Amazon Prime Video would certainly also be welcome.

Given that the Switch can be connected to a TV, this would be another way to make YouTube and maybe YouTube Music, also appear on the big screen. We will have to wait and see what happens next Thursday, November 8.

Apple could launch an iPhone 5G in 2020

Apple could launch an iPhone 5G in 2020

31 December, 2019English, Future, Gadgets

The project for the next generation of 5G networks is only in its early stages, but that will not prevent phone manufacturers from incorporating 5G capabilities into their phones as soon as possible. According to a new report, Apple will join the party in 2020.

Internal sources say that the Intel 8161 5G modem chip will be the one that will provide this 5G connectivity, although apparently Intel is fighting the heat problems that the prototype of the chip seems to have and thus develop it for commercial use.

It seems that Apple is willing to allow other companies to reach the market first with their 5G phones. Oppo, LG, Samsung, Huawei, Lenovo and Sony have confirmed or have at least said that 5G phones will be launched in 2019.

Speed is priority

Depending on where you live in the world, you may have become accustomed to seeing the 4G or LTE symbol on your phone on a regular basis. The deployment of 5G in terms of real networks will be delayed with respect to the arrival of phones with 5G capacity; As with 4G, it will first appear to the inhabitants of the main cities, and then it will be extended to other places.

The improvements that 5G will offer us are not only reside in brutal speed, but also in the band, which will be wider. That means that it allows the connection of more devices at the same time and that there will be a better reception when we are in very busy areas.

Download speeds have the potential to be a thousand times faster than 4G – 10Gbps instead of 100Mbps – although this is a theoretical maximum (the reality will be somewhat different). By the time Apple’s rumored iPhone 5G arrives in 2020, you may even be able to connect to a 5G network somewhere near where you live.
